Yacht Haven

As part of the Harbour Trust's expansion plans, the yacht haven at Longman Quay has been required to close, as this area has been infilled. The pontoons have been removed.

 However as part of the overall redevelopment project, yacht facilities at the harbour will increase considerably, and these are nearing completion;

There will be a full 150-berth secure marina with facilities for yachts to have power and water available on each berth, as well as shower and toilet facilities ashore.

An extensive boat storage area has been completed, and a boat hoist will be available shortly.

Full disabled access bridges will feature, along with a disabled hoist to assist boarding craft.

A hotel, chandlery and restaurant are also anticipated on site.

Although not full completed, the new marina is now operational for berthing, and berths are filling up fast.

It is anticipated that all pontoons and access arrangements will be in place by early November 2008, with the remaining facilities becoming operational over the winter period.

The new marina will be run by Inverness Marina Ltd.

For further information, berth availability and updates, please see the website at www.invernessmarina.com or contact the Marina staff on 01463 717951, or 07703 168280.

Do not moor on commercial quays within the Harbour, without first contacting the Harbour Office for permission. Commercial shipping berth and unberth frequently at all times of the day and night, and you must not block a ships berth.

Warning;

The commercial quays are faced with horizontal and vertical fendering. The vertical fendering is half height and does not go all the way down to Low Water level.  Visitors berths are available at the new Marina, contact details as above.

The Inner Moray Firth is home to a colony of Bottlenose dolphins, and you are likely to encounter these beautiful creatures whilst transiting through our waters.

A Code of Conduct exists for craft which find themselves in close proximity to the dolphins, and information can be found at;

For other wildlife within the Firth, please give consideration to the "Scottish Marine Wildlife Watching Code". Information can be found at

 In addition, a Marine Advisory Chart, showing sensitive areas within the Inner Moray Firth for various species, is currently being produced, and will be available shortly.
