Welcome to the Port of Inverness

Location of the Port of Inverness Inverness has long been recognised as the capital of the Highlands and, together with the growth of industrial development and tourism, the city has acquired an even greater importance.

The existence of a busy, thriving harbour in the city therefore comes as no surprise.

As one of Scotland's most sheltered natural deep harbours, the port of Inverness is well placed to handle the ever-growing trade between the United Kingdom and countries in Scandinavia, the European Union and the Baltics. The port caters for oil tanker traffic, timber, paper pulp, coal, processed timber, animal feed, grains and a host of other dry cargoes.

Large modern transit sheds are provided, as well as large areas of open storage.  The port's versatility extends far beyond the above commodities, allowing Inverness Harbour Trust to respond to new trades and opportunities.

Whether your visit is likely to be for business or for pleasure, the purpose of this web site is to tell you something about the harbour and the city, and also about the facilities in the area for incoming industry.
